DSGNRMRKT

Aah, DSGNRMRKT, my first love and the project that started my whole journey as a freelancer. DSGNRMRKT was initiated in 2009 after a trip to New York where I stumbled upon a warehouse were young designers were selling their designs during the weekend. I absolutely loved the idea and regretted that Belgium didn’t have this kind of initiative at the time (we’re talking the pre-socials era here).

When I came home I couldn’t let go of the disappointment of not having this kind of platform in Belgium to proceed my discovery of young creatives. So I concluded there was no other way but doing it myself. Not long before I met Marie, the girlfriend of a friend of my boyfriend (we are now married to those same guys and initiated a wedding event together on the occasion), knowing she was into fashion I told her my idea and she wanted in immediately. Marie is an interior designer, stylist and art director so a perfect match with my communication skills!

That was the beginning of DSGNRMRKT, an offline platform and series of events where young fashion designers could show and sell their work. For over four years we organized fashion markets, pop-up-parcours, fashion shows, workshop events, … We had great fun and learned even more!

When social media came up we decided it was time to let DSGNRMRKT go and let the designers continue their stories online. End of a chapter but not end of story. I started as a freelancer shortly after and Marie and I are still friends and business companions. We organized a lot of design events together such as Makelij, Voor Altijd, Belgian Pavilion, … the past years and we’re not done yet! Watch us!
