Allez Stalenstraat

Being born and raised in the city of Genk and shopping with my Belgian ‘bomma’ and Polish ‘bompa’ in the legendary Wara warehouse and having the best Greek food at Saloniki’s, the ‘Stalenstraat’ brings up warm memories. When the city of Genk planned to revamp the street and gift it with its own street party ‘Allez Stalenstraat’ I was happy to be counted in!

The beauty about Stalenstraat is that it’s a representation of the world. And Allez Stalenstraat is its celebration. Every second weekend of May you can taste the world on your plate at the local restaurants or food trucks, browse through the jewellery, clothing, homeware and other accessories that the local traders and multicultural exhibitors have on offer, listen to the rousing music and be enchanted by street entertainment from all corners of the world. What’s there not to like?
